So after a week of fussing with the AFS to get it working, I was cleaning the tank today and bumped the feeder and the cap opened and all of the food dropped into the tank. Has anyone else had this issue when using the AFS from NS? I am really disappointed in design of this feeder. The theory was great, but the execution seems to be flawed. Thoughts?

I too just recently got mine. So far I absolutely love it. My only complaint is how loud it is. But that's a small one.

I keep mine attached to dump the food in the return section of my sump. Can't hear it, and it's out of the way for accidental bumps so forth. Works well this way. I actually think the fish know when it's on as they collect near the return lines to eat the pellets. JP

I have something similar set up as JP. I have an acrylic tank, so I have mine sitting on top of the tank and it dumps into one of the openings. Also I made, out of a plastic bird feeder, a cylinder which goes slightly below the water the line for the food dump into. This way the food slowly sinks and doesn't get anywhere. To help with the bumping aspect I used the provided Velcro and secured it in place.

Sammykonga took my setup and made it better. I made mine out of glass. I have released a bunch of food in the tank with the auto feeder but it was user error. Wouldn't want to have a tank with out with. Noise is a small factor but rewards is worth it.
