Nero 5 rear guard

I just ordered two Nero 5's to replace my mp40. Can any of the printers out there make me a couple of rear guards?

There are a few designs available on thingiverse.com If you can find one you want, I can print em for you.

This is the one I was looking at. If you can make it in black, it would be awesome. Let me know what I owe you.

Edit: link didn't work. See picture below.

That design is flawed. One side has an extremely thin wall thickness, so cracks by just lightly pressing on it. There is a similar design out there called "Nero 5 super shield" that I'm printing now to test.

You're the man!

Uhg, I'm going to have to do a slight re-design on this one. It prints fine, but the center ring is too small for the magnet to fit.

Not to throw another wrench in machine, but this year, AI upgraded their magnet for all new production models. There were complaints the magnet wasn't strong enough. They made the internal magnet thicker to solve the issue. I'll receive mine tomorrow and let you know if it's the new thicker magnet. If yours came in a rectangle box, it's the smaller one. Cube packaging has the new magnet and might not fit what you're printing.

Good to know, I had heard that there might have been a redesign on that magnet, I've probably got the smaller one then. What did you do to get the upgraded one?

I'm not sure if I am getting the upgraded one yet. It all has to do with the production date. I heard that if you have an old one and contact AI, they might send you an upgraded wetside magnet.

I have a newer nero 5 that came in a cube shaped box and the magnet is 46.20mm. Could I get a copy of the updated STL for this? Also, how did you modify the STL? Was it pretty easy to do? I just started 3D printing and trying to figure things out.

I've uploaded the re-mix to thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4306535

I just imported the original .stl into tinkercad at 103% size and modified the inner ring. Tinkercad is super easy to use to make simple items or basic modifications to existing designs. Fusion 360 is free for home use but has a steeper learning curve but is much more powerful design too for more advanced designs.

I'm getting 46 on the dot for the new magnet.

Sweet, this design should work just fine then. I wonder if they just modified the external magnet to create a more powerful field. I found their old model specs on their website and the internal magnet thickness hasn't changed from old to new, unless they just didn't update the listed specs.

So the person who made the original STL made some updates for me. I have an STL that seems to print and fit perfect now. The foam fits inside the center ring but the magnet is slightly beyond.
