I got my PC to be able to control the Apex. Now, how do I make it so I can operate it from anywhere (IPhone and a computer not on my home network). I have a netgear router that I can instuctions in the manual.

So, what do I change on the Apex and what do I have to change on the home network to make this work.

Yes I read it. The first problem I had was changing to a static IP. I changed it to 192.168.1.50 but when I did this the Netgear could not find the device. If I was unable to that, there was no reason to continue.

What am I doing wrong or how can I get Netgear to see the static IP?

Why did you pick that IP address? Look at your PC's address (run 'ipconfig /all' from the DOS command prompt). The third piece of the IP address is probably a '0'. By making your Apex have a '1' there, you defined a new subnet to your network.

Go back to your network params in the controller. Turn DHCP = ON. Reboot. Let the Apex find an address. Then go back and turn DHCP = OFF. Reboot. Then you're good to go with port forwarding.

Can you get a Dyn Server for free or is there a monthly fee?
If you sign up for a 14-day trial of the DynDNS Pro account, and then go back in and cancel the trial before your credit card gets charged at the end of the trial period, you will be left with a free limited account, which is all that most people need.

Thanks that will work, but can you tell me the following:

1. Do I do a wildcard?
2. Do I select Host with IP address, WebHop Redirect (URL forwarding service), or Offline Hostname?
3. Do I select the mail routing option?
