Never again business (TO the store)

So i went to the local fish store and got two fish today. Well the guy put one fish in the bag an it looked fine. He got the other fish with the net and put it into a bag. The fish then went up side down(on its back) the man touched the fish and started to swim again. Well he thought he was slick and trying to seem like the fish wasnt dieing( which it clear was). So i bought the fish anyways wasnt going to make a big deal out of it. when i got home the fish was dead. How puthetic do you have to be to do that to a customer. When he net the fish and when it went up side down he turned around looked at me and was trying to get my attention some were els while he flicked the fish to get it to move again. Never wil give that store business im ****ed :deadhorse:
 
lol... so you obviously saw the fish dying and swimming upside and you still bought it?

this is story is very hard to believe
 
Sorry to hear that. Maybe should have went straight back with the fish and raised hell about it OR take as a lesson learned about their shadiness and never give them your business again.
 
i know i shouldnt of bought it but it only was a $4 damsel for a friend. Still makes me mad. and yes i have learned my lesson
 
I'd have walked out and stuck them with both fish nothing said. Besides I hand pick my fish at the LFS. I generally spend a good amount of time looking the fish over and watching it's behavior before I'm willing to even think about taking it home.

I wish I would of done that. The owner of the store doesn't like people catching their fish. I over herd another reefer ask "may you feed them so I can see if he eats" the owner said they cant do that. But that was a while back. There are tons of saltwater/reef stores I'n Houston so I will go to them!
 
Unless the fish were just recently fed, I a good LFS should have no problem feeding the fish in front of you if you are showing real interest in buying that fish. Also, they should always ask you which particular fish you want out of the entire tank, if you have spotted one you like best. Now, trying to catch that particular fish is another story... a good LFS will make a good attempt at giving you what you want. :)
 
The store is called "TnT REEF" now dont get me wrong im not trying to put them out of business by telling people not to go their. Just be careful if you go there. Houston is the 3-4 bigest city so their are more than 8 reef stores nice nice ones around here. an awsome store here is "fish gallery".
 
Sometimes those small business Operators are their own worst enemies. I've found that it's really hard to find a good LFS. I drive past about 10 of them to get to one that I consider to be half way descent. I'm surprised that half of them are still in business.
 
bummer man, but you should have spoke up. even if you took it back within hours they should have refunded your money. wholesalers even refund some stores without even seeing the fish dead. it might have been worth the effort if your this upset about it. let the manager of the store know and see if they can rectify the situation
 
there becomes a point in life where you get tired of peoples crap..

you ever wonder why the old guys are crotchety and tell you how it is...

well they have just been screwed around enough to say enough..is enough ..and they grew the balls to call people out when they try crap..

i am getting there ..a embarrassing as it is for my gf sometimes..i stand up for myself..not in a rude way but will stand up..

i wouldnt have made a scene.. but i would have looked at him and just said in a normal tone and volume ..really dude ..you didnt really just do that ..you know it is dying..and you expect me to take it and continue to shop here ..and seen how he handled it ..

even with what happened i would have brought it right back to the store still in the bag dead ...but then if they would have made excuses..that you did something..then my voice may have been a little louder and stern..


i guess when you get older you get get bigger balls for that kind of stuff..you realize ..they know they are being stupid..sometimes you just need to call people out..
 
I would have given you c**p for buying that fish if you hadn't seemed to take some sort of responsibility for the decision. Good for you. Lesson learned. I'm glad to see you realized your own part in the mistake. Does that mean the fish store didn't try to pull one? NO. Sorry it happened. I wouldn't go back either.

$4 or $40, sounds like it still would have been the same...
Too many people out there rely on people like you who are afraid to speak up!
Hope the other fish didn't bring diease into your tank like the dead fish could have done to your friends tank, must not have been a good friend...:(
