:bum:

Got the lights from kermits!, 1 10k 1 actinic, 1 10k middle set up, then blue white on the sides. Looks really neat in person we were worried about the spotlight effect that leds sometimes have but the light is balanced through out the tank.

Yea man it turned out to be really nice. No spotty effect and all corals have opened up nicely including the SPS. SOrry for no info but it was late and I was a lil tired. Just PM if anyone wants any info...

They are Current USA PowerBrite LED's. You can get 10K on all LEDs, Actinics on all, or a 50/50 mix. They are extremely bright...not sure about the PAR ratings or anything, but they make awesome moonlights for large tanks.

They can run SPS in a small tank like mine but you would need a lot more to run in a big tank.. They do pack quite a punch though.... My SPS came right out...Ill report on growth rates later..

"Carlos and I (Ryan)"[/B]

Now we know who we need to get to assist at the June meeting, At that meeting we will build a DIY 10 gallon, and raffle off at the meeting. You guys can show us how you did the LED lighting and we can actually compare it to PC's, Halides etc...
Might at least be a meal in it for you!!

Im not a member and dont see myself becoming one but Im sure Carlos wouldnt mind showing you guys how mine was set up. It was easy and you can see how the lights were done in the pics.

If you'd like to check the PAR for comparison purposes I have an Apogee Quantum meter with submersible sensor you can use.

There were a few different readings in different spots and under the blue lighting I was getting low readings. On average on top of the tank was about 125 and the bottom was 70.......Under the blue I was getting like 30 in some spots. Thanks though Dave for letting me check it.

Yea man I havent had any problems so far and polyp extension is good as well as growth. It hasnt been very long though so we will see.

OK I'm going for it ........ I have an original 12 gallon Nano Cube , when I say orignal I mean the tank came with one 24 watt 50/50 PC bulb . I'm going to replace it with two of these units linked together ( the white and actinic ones ) . The tank is strictly a mushroom tank and they do very well , but I'm guessing at worst the 8 LED's will be as bright as the one PC bulb . We shall see !

You can also go for the one white one actinic combo. Go in the tank of the month thread I posted (VOTE FOR ME LOL) and look at those lights. I would recommend making sure they have a lil height so they dont look to spotty. I am actually going to be selling a mine soon and going to a larger tank. I have SPS in there so I imagine you will be just fine....

I'm going to start ny mounting them in the hood and hope the spot lighting effect isn't too bad , they will be under the plastic shield so that might help spread out the light .

Yea mine are about 6-7 inches above the waterline. You should be fine. There is no heat involved. I like that. If you have any problems that I may know dont hesistate to ask.
