Ok the tank is just now starting to turn brown in the sand on the edges. Do I need to be adding purple up?

First, the pics look very good, and I know your enjoying your new tank, but the brown diatom bloom is normal, just let it be and do regular water changes, testing, etc, it will go away in a few days. I personally do not use purple up as it will occure naturally after a few weeks. So just sit back and enjoy the tank It is looking good and very normal so far.

It does look nice Turtle. Proud to see the xenia is doing good. I will post a pic of the green star polyps I have but they dont look like anything in your tank. Once again nice tank.
