Just got 2x 120W Blue/white combo led units. One unit works fine...meanwhile the other unit, blue works fine however 1/2 of the white led lights flicker on and off a few times a second. Is this an easy fix or should i send it back to the owner? The units are apparently brand new.
Cheers.

Also vid is loud since cam was sitting so close to the fans on the unit.

could also be as simple as a loose connection but before u take apart agreed on contacting the seller and see what they say

Yeah I would contact the seller before taking anything apart. Then if you cant fix it and send it back to the seller they could claim you void any warranty.

Contact the seller and simply ask what he would like to do. Don't suggest taking it apart or anything like that. There's no way they're going to accept a return that has been taken apart.

Either he'll respond asking you to return it to him, or he'll tell you you're out of luck, or he won't respond at all. First response, return it. Second or third, open it up.

And you have a cat... don't you?

If you paid for something new, make sure you get something that work like a new item should IMO.

Why spend your time fixing it if it should work, it's their problem not yours.

Cheers for the replys guys. I guess the best thing to do would be to send it back. I did contact the seller straight away and he would like both products returned to him.
I am quite handy with a soldering iron which was why i asked if it would be easy to fix (im no electrical engineer).
The only reason I did not send the products straight back to the company is that im looking at a 2 week roll-over to send the products back and have them sent back out to me. Lights are the only thing left I need before i start my first 90g sw mixed reef. I now understand how frustrating it would be to order a tank and have it have a problem and takes 3 weeks to resolve it. I suppose thats the hobby im getting into. Haha.

How did you know I have a cat btw? haha. I live in two houses. Mine and my partners(gf). Gf has 2 of the bastards and i have one indoor cat in my unit

One thing needed in this hobby is patience. I didn't use any lights during my cycle on my tank. Didn't hurt anything that survived the cycle. Where did you get your lights from?

Thankyou for the advice however, id prefer to have everything perfectly set-up before i start. Just to make sure I run into minimal problems during startup (Obviously some will be unavoidable).
Purchased the lights from Ebay, Amazing deal and a quality product. I believe I just came into a stroke of bad luck. I wont say who as I do not wish to damage the company's integrity.
Cheers guys.

Makes you feel any better, I went through 3 Coralife Aqualights before I switched LEDS. Thankfully they were still under warranty. 2 of the lights the ballasts fried and the third one the LED lunar lights kept shorting out. Thankfully my tank didn't have any light loving critters.

Also to make you further feel better, I'm setting a new tank up at the moment, and Ive already had to replace it.

I had it on the lawn giving it a good clean because I was going to fill it up that day. My boxer puppy decides to go for a run on the grass and ran right through it, smashing it to pieces..

So the next day I went a bought a new bigger tank lol.

if you fix it and some thing goes wrong , your screwed when they see that is has been repaired. the no brainer thing to do is send it back

Most likely the Led driver is broken. These lamps have 4 led driver (1 pcs for one half blue/white).
