New 125 build

Grabbing a 125 gallon. It's going to be a slower build as i have a 35 gallon in place already. What skimmer are you guys running. I want heavy skimming but nothing that will break the bank also don't want nothing dirt cheap put me right in between.

I run a reef octopus in my 65. Works great for me but it’s the only skimmer I’ve ever had

I would think it would prolly depend too on what your stocking plan is. I have the Reef Octo 150 INT. I believe it’s rated for 150 gallons from the manufacturer but BRS suggests 120. It pulls out tons of gunk from my water.

Not sure if that falls into your bracket. I know most skimmers are pretty pricey. I was lucky enough to mine as a bday present a couple years back when I was still prepping my build.

I'm running an Aquamaxx ConeS SO2 on my 125. It's reliable and does pull gunk out but I wouldn't say it's great. The nice thing is you can easily disassemble the whole thing if need be for cleaning. Needed to do that when white thread bacteria clogged everything.

I haven't been on here in a long time thought I'd show my build off. Had previously lost all fishes due to I'm assuming velvet. Did my fallow period added some fish recently. Started moonshine method as I couldn't keep sps now dying sps are coloring up. Things are going great

And the most fragile. I had an issue maybe an ammonia spike not sure because I didn’t test. I was just fed up with the tank at the time and got rid of all fish. But hippo was the first to get sick.
They’re so finicky and fragile (as you mentioned). I’d love to have another one, but not sure if I’m willing to risk it…such a beautiful fish.

DIY ats gotta order lights and mesh and couple more touch ups and it’s done. I plumbed the rest of everything and no more leaks as well. Tanks running good now. Couple weeks and it’ll be running.well second hand pump dead after about 3 tries smh
