Well, I see it's been some time since I've last posted on the progress of the 125. It is officially past 6 months old now, and the tank is very healthy. That being said...
A healthy tank is always a fun tank. Right now I'm working on erradicating flatworms. I've learned my lesson to do an iodine dip on new corals from now on. Because of this flatworm outbreak, I've added a few new fish to try and control them, but I haven't added any new corals.
Everyone is very happy/healthy in the tank. The flatworms don't directly cause damage. They will form a "mat" on corals and smother them from the light. I'm doing manual removal today, then treating with FW exit over the next few days. Hopefully this should clear up the problem. Then I can add some new corals, which I'm dying to do.:rollface:

Sorry to hear about the flatworm infestation... but it seems like we all go through our period of trials and tribulations during the first year or so. I look forward to seeing more pics of your tank!

Hey ReefWraith...glad you are still following my (poorly updated) thread! Perureef, new pics will be coming as soon as I finish nuking these dang flatworms.
Day 1 of siphoning them went great! What an improvement. I'd siphon hundreds (thousands?), then wait a few hours for some more to move in. Siphon and repeat. I think I did that 3 or 4 times. I'll do it again today, then I'll FW exit the rest on Thursday.
I'll take some pics before I FW exit the tank, since everything will freak out for a day or two after the treatment. There has been some great grown on my Acros. I even noticed that my clam is (finally) starting to grow! Updates later today!

Just a word of advice form a person the has gone thru it twice. Followup three days later with double the dose. There is a thread out there about this. Some will look dead some are behind the rocks. were water flow is less. They will return if you don't. My second time was the last for me by doing a second double dose and leaving it for about 10 hours. I have not seen them since. Also something that I have seen work is a valvet sea slug. They eat this stuff like candy. Problem is that after the are finish they die.

Bigzman: Thanks for the reply! I read a thread about doing the double dose, and that is what I was planning on doing. I've also read about the Velvet Sea Slug, but they are hard to find, expensive (ok, what isn't in this hobby), and they don't ship well. Thanks for the tips and I'll post updates as they occur!

Ouch! Wow TJ... I'm so sorry to hear about your SPS trouble. I'll be watching the RTN process closely and feeling your pain. It's just GOTTA hurt. 
Looks like the folks here at RC have jumped right in to help though. Stopping the iodine, raising your Alk, and doing a water change or two certainly can't hurt... and may help greatly. Good luck.. I'm sure you'll be able to turn this around soon.

On to new and exciting things. Seems the tank is out of trouble, so now it's time for some improvements!
I'm going to redo my refugium/sump area in the basement and make a small room to house everything in. I'm going to laminate the floor, put a wrap-around countertop, shelving, drawers, larger sump and refugium and possibly a quarentine/grow out tank (out of the soon to be old refuge/sump tanks). I'm going to put a blower to vent humidity outside since all my workshop tools are rusting. Any other suggestions?

Hello all! Thought I'd post some new pictures and growth shots. Haven't added anything to the tank in a LONG time (FW issues and re-doing sump/refugium).
Here's a shot of the growth of a Birdsnest. The left is a tiny frag mounted on a 1" piece of plastic. Today (right) it is a nice pink "bush" about 2" around.
Slipper/Tounge coral. Top is the old pic, bottom is today. It has grown quite a bit and even moved itself around in the tank! Oh, Nemo is still with us, he was a little camera shy today. :rollface:
Pineapple/Favites. After looking at the pics today, I realized how much this thing has grown! There is a little bleaching on it, but it has been that way since I put it in the tank. Very healthy and expands like crazy at night.
I've forgotten what kind of ocoral this is (any help?). Anyways, amazing growth, but no real color to this one.

I just made my first order from Dr. Mac's today. I ordered two Acro colonies and a frag pack. I also ordered new bulbs. I'm switiching over to the 14K Phoenix bulbs. The new corals will be here Wed, 01-02, and the bulbs hopefully within a week. Pics will be posted.
Also, I've decided to get rid of my macro algaes and go with Zeovit. I'll be switching over to Zeo within the next 2 months or so. Still building out the new workroom in the basement and don't want to switch until the new sump and refugium (just L/R this time) is done.

Thanks CeeGee! Yeah, the hair algae can be a pain, but with some work you'll make it through. I don't have any algae (except macros...which I'm getting rid of) in the tank at all! Got rid of my flatworms, water is stable, everything that's in the tank appears happy....reef life is good! So, I rewarded myself with a few new pieces.
