New 140 gallon reef tank

Hi everyone, I am building out a "new" 140 gallon reef tank with Richards help. The tank has been up and running for a week with the salt mixed in the tank and all parameters are good.

I get part 1 of the package later today :lol2: I'll post a few pics later tonight of pre and post.

Looking for suggestions for a decent camera.

Richard, you're the best,

Michael.

Part 1

Part 1

A few pics attached, in order.

1. A nice shot of some good color.

2. A shot of the tank after aquascaping this morning.

3. Not sure what this is, some kind of coral that slimed itself maybe?

4. A cucumber.

Just checked ammonia and it looks about .1 maybe or .2 tops.

Is that normal for day 3 Richard?

Can I put in a couple small fish after the bloom, or maybe a coral since you will be gone for a while?

Or, should I wait until I get part 2 when you get back in a week?

What is this?

What is this?

Hi Richard, still no diatoms yet. The ammonia is still around .2 or .3.

I also found this yesterday and am not sure if it's a problem or not. It appeared on the sand bottom yesterday. The serpent star has not been seen either, is it possible it died in the sand?

Hi Richard, it seems the ammonia is holding about .2 now. There might be a few small spots of brown on my old rock. Should I get a larger bloom of diatoms, or just a few small spots like I have now?

Hi everyone, I got part 2 today and here are a few pics. There was so much stuff, I couldn't even get it all in the tank! These pics were taken with my new camera that I got today(Nikon 5200), in red :)

Just using the kit lens 18-55mm until I get better and buy a macro lens.

Mantis

Mantis

Hi, I finally found my mantis that i have been hearing since part 1 was added 2 weeks ago.

I checked for ammonia this morning Richard and it's basically zero still. I assume I need to start testing for nitrate and nitrite?

Where do I put that little bag of green algae?

So I just tested the water and here are the numbers:
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - .2
Nitrate - 20

How are these numbers doing after 2 days after part 2?
