New 180 on DIY stand

I have a quick question. I recently got a 180 with a DIY stand. The top of the aquarium does not contact the top of the stand all the way around and I cannot shim under the plywood because it was glued down. I was wondering if I just shim directly between the plywood and the tanks plastic rim if this would be sufficient to support the aquarium long term? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I should also add that the shis are about 1.5 inches apart in areas that need them. the area shimmed id around 1/3 of the parimeter of the tank.

I have already build it twice. I am going to be sliding the aquarium to the edge and taping the plastic rim. I am then going to use a liquid adhesive that is sold and noncompressable once cured between the aquarium and stand. This should fill in any defect and give a solid base for the aquarium.

If there is small gaps you can try 1/4 inch flat Styrofoam as a filler. I used it on a 125g and it takes stress off the glass and acts as an insulator.

I would NEVER glue it down.

If anything happens and you need to remove it one day you risk pulling off where ever you glue.

It is not like it is going to slide or move. The glue will not add any structure or stability.
