New 180G Build Need Help With Equipment Ideas.

Well I haven't been on here in a while but I'm getting ready to set up a 180g dual overflow tank. (big upgrade from my 55g) Anyway I'm not sure of what kind of equipment to get as far as lights (MH of course but how many 2 or 3 and how many watts 250 or 400 and 10k, 12k, or 20k), skimmer, pumps and power heads. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Whats the plan for the tank? Mixed Reef? SPS? More info on your intentions with the build

Mostly SPS but some LPS and Softies scattered in there.

As far as lights, depends on what you want to keep.

For a nice mixed reef I would go with 3x250 MH and 2x160 VHO actinic. Thats what I ran and was perfect for mixed reef with softies and LPS lower and SPS in upper half.

If you want SPS dominant then you might step up to 400s but you will fry anything soft.

OK so 3x 250 MH sounds good but any suggestions on companies or reflectors?

Lumenmax Elite reflectors are good choices at least they're working for me, for powerheads you can choose 4 MP40's, SPS will need lots of flow, or two MP60's

Id look into T5's. It cost less to run them and with the right buld combo can get what your looking for for cheaper than MH.
