New 220 gallon build

Well, stopped by RC to pick up my DC8 and moon lights. Of course could not resist the temptation and spent more cash

I lost the first Powder Blue I bought and did not think I would try it again, but she is just so pretty. Had a bit of a pouch from eating so hope this one goes well, although it was ICH that killed my first one.

Some other creatures

False Percs are finally starting to host in the RBTA

The right side of the tank, you can see 7 acro's in this shot if you look closely...one is very small

The foxface is a pig, can you tell how fat it is in this shot?

Two lights had gone out for the night, but since I added the PB decided I should put some Nori in

_KJS9428.jpg

She did not feel comfortable joining the other Tangs yet.

I wish my shots looked like yours Gary. If your interested in some gear, I am selling a D200 (LNIB with 8k photos taken), 12-24mm Tokina (Great shape), 28-70mm Nikon (Good shape, a bit older but takes sharp images...the images in my last post above were taken with it)....have a new camera and lens on the way.

Kurt,

If you ever run a class I'd be interested. These shots are truly great... and the tank ain't so shabby either.

Nice tank thread. I myself lost almost all my fish due to ICH as well. It came from a Powder Blue Tang too. It was so pretty, my 2nd fav Tang behind the Achilles. I just had to have it and I never thought of qurantining it at all. She showed signs of ich in the first week it wasn't funny. Within a month I lost her and my beloved black & white clowns. That was the hardest part cause they just finally hosted my OBTA after more than 2 months of introduction. I've learned my lesson about quarantining especially for Tangs. I sure hope your latest PBT will be a success for you this time around. Best of Luck! I'll stay Tang free for now.

? for ya how is the powder blue now and do u think i can put one in a 90 for a little and when she gets to big trade her in. Also what do u think the minimum size tank is for the foxface

I have been out of town for about 5 days for a hockey tournament in Ottawa...my wife is feeding the fish...well she is supposed to be. Has not mentioned any issues with the tank or dead fish and I think that she would bring that up in conversation.

Reeftank, I think foxface in a 90 would be fine the tang would do well for awhile not sure once it got full grown.

Yes, but never noticed any damage. Not sure if its trying to eat polyps or if its eating algae.

Got back from Ottawa today...tank is a mess, well needs a good cleaning at least.

I have this one LED acentic light, decided to try some night photography with a new camera that has good high ISO quality...

All straight from camera but cropped except for one I changed the white balance on.

This is the shot I played with the WB, its how the coral looks...my favorite acro

Will have to do this some more once I build or buy a top down box.

Its amazing the different colors, this Acan looks nothing like this in the daylight bulbs.

This tri color acro is more of a cream color under the halides

A bit of movement in the extended polyps here, 15 second exposure

Every picture is perfect, and you did a fantastic job. My question is why f/16? That would make the DOF pretty wide for a coral shot, no?

Thanks guys. Mel, not with macro lens and close distance. If you look, most of these have a DOF of less than one inch. You have to stop down to get anything in focus.
