Hello. I am buying a 220 gallon tank and stand. It will be going on an exterior wall. My house has a crawl space. I need advice on support for the floor. Should I reinforce the floor or will it handle the weight? Thanks.

i just did it for my 320 gallon tank i would reinforce it. how i did it was i poured 6" thick slab with rebar and put in 8 x 8 (got 8) footing with 4 x 4 wood to support hope u have more than 30" under cuz pouring the concrete was hard

Do the floor joists run parallel or perpindicular to the tank in that spot? If they are parallel all of the weight of the tank will be on one or two joists. If they are perpindicular the load will be spread out over more joists. If you cab easily reinforce the floor I would do it for piece of mind. Should be fairly easy on a crawl space.

I would definately recommend extra support...you're talking close to 2 tons in about 12 sq. ft., for a glass 220 reef tank/sump/stand & the viewing 'public'
