Hey so im setting up a new 90 gallon my borhter had and he recently gave to me, its got everything it needs....

Just got a couple of questions, me and him set it up at his house and he just never filled it with fresh water as it was evaportaing for theres basically no water in itmaybe halfway up the sand, its been with no water for like 2 weeks, so the rock and sand are just sitting there....

i know i can use the rock and just make it live, but what about the sand whould i clean it or anything, or just add saltwater to the tank?

And is there anything special i need to do to it beside clean it up to get it up and running? ex: like taking out sand and rock and soaking in vinegar or anything?

Alrighty thanks.

Well is this a 29 gal or a 90 gal???

If all the water evaporated down to the sand, then you will need to rinse the sand out very well to get the salt out of it. Rinse the rock in water. Fill the tank with fresh salt water put in the sand and rock and let it cycle for a month or longer, get a couple pieces of live rock from an established tank, and get a cup of sand from an established tank and you should be good to go. Make sure you let it cycle for AT LEAST a month before adding ANYTHING.

HTH

Happy reefing.
