Thanks to Richard for the help.

Here is my new 29gal on June 27. This lasted about 2wks and got worse before it got better.

Lighting is 2x250W Phoenix 14K and 2x24W T5 actinics.

It has a 10gal sump with Sapphire Skimmer, carbon, purigen and a nice crop of chaeto. I will never have another tank that isnt drilled. A sump / fuge does wonders for water quality.

Most of the corals were in the 12gal this was upgraded from or frags I had squeezed into my other crowded tanks.

You can see where the monti was getting stung by the favia in the other tank. Hoping it heals up.

Along with the clowns there is a pair of Yellow Watchmen /w pistol shrimp, a blood shrimp and a porcelain crab. Of course they were all being shy when the camera was out.

That's a TON of light! (That's about what I Have on my 120.)

Looks great Scott.

LOL no chiller. Tank stays 80* which is where the heaters are set. Ambient temp stays between 75 and 80. I have 1x250W + 2x24W on my 20 tall and really liked the results but a single 250 wouldn't cover the full 30in of this tank without getting weak on the edges. You have to keep in mind both tanks are 17in deep. I can keep SPS on the sand bed if I want, have been looking at the baby clams Memfish has.

Now how is that possible??? My 2x 250watt XM 20,000 MH's cook the water and the 1/3 HP(!) Chiller cycles all the time, during their duty cycle. (I'm holding 78 degrees +/- 2 on the built-in Current controller, set at a high-end of 81.)

I've got dual fans (one IN; one OUT) that blow across the water & lamps, and the bulbs are 9" over the surface.

Is your canopy Sealed otherwise, or is it open? (I'm sealed, to keep the Light in. Heat is an unwanted by-product.)

The canopy is closed on 3 sides, open in the back like most. I have 2 x 3.125in fans in it. One blowing in one blowing out. The secret is the dual Azoo fan that blows across the sump.

+ I never was really good with thermal dynamics so I just decided they don't apply in my house.

No just me with a water jug. I usually top all my tanks off in the morning and then before lights out. Total for this one is less than a gal a day.
