New 57g Deep Blue Rimless build and second thoughts on tank

So, tank is now wet and cycling with a shrimp.

I had been kinda equivocal on the DBP 57g tank. However, after aquascaping I realize if I had a second chance I would not have gone with this specific tank. The overflow box is just too large and takes up much too much of the footprint, significantly limiting my aquascaping. Hopefully this helps somewhat else who may be considering this tank.

That being said I have been very happy with everything else I have bought and the DIY stand.

I have the same tank...same thoughts. Are they 360s wayyy overkill if so haha. I have two 160s and its perfect

I have the same tank, without the overflow. I added a Lifereef overflow and have a bulky 6 bulb Tek T5 fixture. Love the look of this tank and your stand is really nice....I just have the Petco 40b Brooklyn metal stand skinned with plywood (held on with magnets). I really like the look of the Kessils on there - does the tank justice. I need to get my Tek up off the rim (it's on legs), maybe I'll do a conduit hanger.

Love the look. I went with a 60g cube with a corner overflow, but kind of a similar look. I thought about 2 island rockwork, but ended up with a kind of an arch. I may end up changing my mind.

Thanks! The stand was a team effort with the lady.

We initially planned on a more solid darker stain. However, we weren't satisfied and decided to lightly sand it to get a more weathered look

Here is the sump area when it was in process of setup. Sealed it with urethane. Still need to clean up some of the wiring. Space is a little tight with a 29g sump

Took a little bit of adjusting to get the doors to sit well. Made shaker style doors looking up plans online

Secured the top to the frame first, so that none of the fascia would support any load

Thanks! Philadelphia might be a little far! Making the stand was definitely a time consuming endeavor with much trial and error. Next time I'm sure will be much smoother.

Thanks! I wasn't sure about the Kessil gooseneck at first, since I was worried about the wires showing. Now that I have it up and running, I don't really notice at all, which is something since I tend to be a little particular.

Electrical conduit sounds great and would probably hide the wires better. I toyed with the idea myself. I've never worked with it but, imagine you could put together a nice clean install. I didn't get far enough to plan something I thought would be safe enough to support the weight safely when hanging over salt water

That stand is amazing. And I'm with you on the goose necks. Would it have been that hard to design so the wire runs through it.

Well after having them up for a couple weeks I really don't notice the wires and an pretty happy. I think Kessil just released a new style similar to the AI hanging kit
