Starting a new 85 gallon tank , 40 x long x 22 wide x 25 tall .I am wanting to use Tunze streams for good flow . I am thinking of putting them on opposite sides of tank half way down pointing up at each other . will two , 6055's a photo cell and a single controller be enough . I will have 1500 gph flow through the return on a Squid , SCWD Wave Maker Switching Current Water Director . The budget is a concern .

Thanks , Tarpon

What do you intend to keep? It may not be enough for SPS. I definitely would advise against the single controller for two pumps, you would also need a branch adapter and both pumps would do the exact same thing. I would get the 7095 or wait for the 7096. Keep in mind the pumps work without a controller so you can start with just the pumps.

I am going to keep a verity of corals SPS , LPS , Leathers , clams and a bunch of small schooling fish . The 7096 sounds good , I will not have to buy a photo cell or branch connector , it comes with it correct . Just the controller and the pumps is all I need ?
As far as the pumps the next size up that is controllable is the 6105 and it is a bit pricey .
Do I need controllable pumps with the controller .
And do they ramp up and ramp down on start and stop . I don't want a a hard start and stop I would like to ease up to speed and ease back down . Is this how the controllable pumps work .

Thanks ,Tarpon

The controllers can do off and on or speed up and slow down, you do need the controllable pumps. If you have the return flow you stated and keep the SPS limited, 2 6055 will work but keep in mind the SQWD tends to cost you a fair amount of flow from mechanical losses be sure that 1500gph factors head pressure and I would add 1ft for every 90 degree and the SQWD. Otherwise I would get the 6105.
