New 9002 Pump Faulty?

Have read a post that says theres been a bit of a batch problem with some pumps? Can anyone confirm this?

Got a new 9002 unit on Monday, plugged it in etc and noticed straight away it didn't seem to be producing any bubbles and there was water coming out of the air screw hole. Its progressively gotten worse to the point now that I cant get the unit to run at all unless you remove the impeller housing (with the housing on the impeller wont move). It makes a humming sound like its trying to work but just wont work.

The shop I got it from said they'll replace it, so i'll swap it out tomorrow, but i'm just interested to know if this is a once off problem or if it is part of the supposed batch problem (i.e will the replacement pump I get likely have the same issues?)

We haven't had a pump issue, I am puzzled by what you describe regarding the pump, the only causes of this I know of is some debris jamming the pump. However, we did have a venturi issue, part 9002.400, this crops up periodically because it is hand drilled and very unforgiving, the machinist has to only make an error of 1mm and rather than draw in air, it will blow out water or not take in any air. The best solution is to just replace the nozzle with one the factory has sent as a known good nozzle. If the store replaces it with one from the same lot made right before Christmas, it will likely have the same venturi issue. I don't really see many 9002 pump problems so I suspect the pump issue is seperate and just some piece of debris has jammed it.

Have checked, double checked, and triple checked pump, and I just cant get it to work with the impeller housing on it. I'll get the store to check it today just incase i'm missing something obvious.

The nozzle issue sounds exactly like the problem. On closer inspection theres a bur on the outside of the hold which may not let the elbow close off properly. If the pump was working i'd have a go with a temp fix (silicon or thread tape) but since i'm heading into the store I'll take the nozzle in too. If he only has "pre xmas" nozzles in stock, whats my best option? Is there a New Zealand Disty (or sub disty) who will have known good units in stock?

Update for anyone interested (in future searches etc)

New pump fixed the problem, I now have bubbles and no water in the airline! Is it disturbing I got quite excited about that?

Judging by other research i've done, the pumps on these things dont fail, so I guess I'm pretty unlucky
