New Acros not looking so good.

A days after putting in my new Acros from a overnight shipment. It looks like one didn't make the journey. As soon as i pulled it out of the bag the tips were white and fleshless. Today they whole thing is white and fleshless. The other two are holding up but one is giving me some concern, showing white on some tips.

I did a 4 hour drip acclimation, temp acclimation, Bayer 10 min dip, and the corals are placed on the sand bed for now.

should i cut off the white tips? or give it some more time?

I would give them some time-Usaully after 3-4 weeks on the bottom they should start coloring up & show some new growth. That other one I would toss.

i have had better luck with sps when i just do a 10 minute temp acclimation a 5 minute dip in coral rx then right in the tank.

when i do a drip acclimation i seem to loose more frags.

same here I'm having better luck with quick temp acclimation and a dip. If no shipping involved just a dip.

Drip acclimation may be a bit redundant.

Best method would be to do a 10-15 min temp acclimation dependent on the weather.
Cold = longer, warm = shorter.

Float method works best, but if drip acclimating, you should do a quick drip not a slow drop by drop.

Thanks for everyones reply. Next time I'll just do a temp acclimation.

If the white on that side tip or top spread should i cut it?

My experience is to not acclimate. As far as I can see its healthier for the corals to get in clean water faster than to sit in stagnant water for
long periods of time. Might get flamed for that, but I have never lost a frag or colony. Just a dip in Revive, scrub off the frag or rock, and into the tank it goes.

I actually do it this way too, just watch out for the SPS Police.

Not trying to hijack but just curious, do most of you just use Revive and not some kind of pest dip?

I personally use Revive. Many are now using Bayer Insecticide dips as well. You can find the Bayer at any hardware store, and if you search around on the forums you can find dipping instructions as well

I use revive, they also have a more concentrated version which I use.
I have CoralRx, just too expensive for what it does.

Concentrate

well since my thread got bumped up...

the white on the arco has spread, and looks like this now. the white is all in the middle, i'd feel bad cutting it and losing so much of the top.

maybe super glue the bad area??

my 2 green slimer looked like this the next morning after i got it home i was able to break 1 of them free from the plug and also cut the tip off and attach it to another peice of rubble but the middle section that looked as yours does died no matter what i did and the whole other frag bleached and died as well

Cut down leaveing only a small piece of white. Glue up around the whute and some healthy tissue in hopes it stops the spread. The good tissue theoritically should hold and stary growing over glue. I have about a 75% scuess rate with this method but don't hold ur breathe!
