New Acrylic Project

Boostable

King Nothing!
A friend of mine asked me to build him a self contained tank for a room he had in mind, so we came up with this 30G tank with built in Mag 350 canister filter or maybe a skimmer at a later date.

Anyway I thought it turned out pretty cool, so I thought I would share.

It has an overall length of 34" The tank itself is 26" and it has 8" overflow and 8" dry filter section side by side.

Here is a pic of it being filled.

A side shot being filled.

A shot of the overflow and filter sections. Its setup with two 1/2" uniseals for a nice tight fit. Of course all the tubing is just temporary so I could test it out.

Another shot of the overlow/filter section.

A shot with it running.

Last but not least here is a short movie of it running. I didn't size it down so its not dialup friendly. about 9mb.. sorry

OOO I can make you one!!!! :)

The cansiter filter has a built in pump, so its an all in one unit, no other pump needed. :)

The overflow section will have a filter area in it for sponge, carbon, whatever. You can see the side supports in the pictures. The water is pickedup from the base of that camber sucked into the cansiter filter then returned back to the tank area.

All in all I would say there is probrably around 75 bucks in materials to do this tank. Overall its 34 x 16 x 16 so it took about half a sheet of acrylic to do it. Not to bad... A sump with the same deminsions would require more material because of the baffles and fug area.

Need more info! Where did you get the acrylic? Got any build pics?

Looks really nice.

Didn't take any build pics, figured I have enough of those on other units.. LOL But I can answer any questions you might have.

Sweet. Maybe one day you can assist me in a 3'x3'x14" tank. I'll bring pizza and beer! Did you glue it on and then route it clean? Or have them cut to size and then glue them?

I put everything together then route it clean. Its almost impossible to make sure everything is square, so routing is the best bet.

Would be glad to help out when needed. Im gonna do another tank next with a built in rear fug... will see how that goes.
