New additions from marine center

I placed a spur of the moment order with www.marinecenter.com
on Wendsday.

Just thought I'd share some new additions with everyone. I know about 2 months ago prugs was asking about this place (I posted on that thread under my old username of wills).

I got a Blue Bar Pseudochromis

Here he is in my tank (Top Right)
Note: My camera adds 10# of algae to the side of the glass :)

Here he is hiding behind a candycane

Not as dark of a blue as pictured and a bit more yellow in the head but still a very nice and unique fish. So far he is an ideal tankmate with my clown and my yellow watchman goby. He seems to like to dart around the rockwork. I got him because they seem to be one of the more passive pseudochromis out there. So far so good.

My picture does not do it justice, I'll try to get some better ones. He is just so hyper right now.

The other fish I ordered was a blue flasher wrasse but I ended up with a Blue Assessor.
When you checkout they give you a substitution option and if you would like something substituted they will. I said I'd take an Assessor if they were out of the Flasher Wrasse, D'Oh!

Here's their picture:

And here is my little guy getting acclimated earlier today

I could not believe the color on this fish when he got in my tank. Amazing. I guess he was a little stressed, soon after going in the tank he layed on his side behind some live rock. I turned off the lights for the day so hopefully he will be chipper in the morning (crossing fingers).

Just some thoughts about Marine Center:

Amazing packaging. Everything was tripple bagged and had an almost insane amount of water per bag. Each fish came with at least 3/4 of a gallon of water. Water was crystal clear.

Cost was o.k. Shipping was $45 if I remember but that is for overnight DHL. The DHL guy was here at 9 a.m.
One thing- If you place an order with them try to hit $100. If you do they waive the box charge ($10) & the ice/heat pack charge ($6). I was at $80 when I went to checkout and they actually had a little message that told me this. I ended up getting a toadstool leather for $17 (and this thing is a monster).

They have a live arrival guarantee. Once the fish goes in your tank the guarantee is finished. I was so impressed with the health of my fish I can't imagine them having to many DOA's to worry about.

Also if you place an order and if 2/3 of it is in stock and ready to go they will ship it, this is where the substitutions come in handy. I would put down "If this is out of stock I'll take this" for all the fish/corals you order so you might not get your first choice but at least you have something for the shipping cost.

No doubt in my mind they are hard to get a hold of but I think they are a smaller operation than someplace like marinedepot or liveaquaria. The main thing I would like is for them to notify you if a fish is not going to be shipped for whatever reason but I bet they don't have the personel for that.

So there you go, if you are looking for a new place to get some nice fish I would reccomend these guys.

I added a pepermint shrimp earlier this week. I used to always see him hanging out in one spot. Now I don't see him.
I'll give it a few days before I blame the pseudochromis.... :)

Also about their service:
I thought the Assesor was DOA. That thing was on his side during acclimation, I still added him to my tank and it layed on it's side a while longer. I sent an e-mail to Marine Center @ 1 p.m. to report a DOA.
I turned off the lights at 2ish and left them off until 6:30 to give the fish some time to adjust (Thanks for the tip Todd). When I turned the lights back on the assesor looks great.

I just got a call from them (Johnny) wanting to explain the DOA process. This is 7:30 on a Friday night. Before he could go on I said "Whoops, I jumped the gun, the fish is o.k. now, I was going to send a follow up e-mail but I wasn't expecting you to get back to me so quick."
We chit chatted a bit and I told him how everything looked great and was doing well. Still am amazed at the customer service. The last thing I want to do on a Friday night is call people halfway across the country about a fish :)

Now I need a bigger tank to order more fishies.........

Got to see the fish tonight. VERY SWEET! The pseudochromis is one beautiful fish, the basslet was shy but is equally nice.

Thanks for the trade Colin, the zoas opened up while still in the bag!

Nice set up as well.

I saw the peppermint shrimp this morning. Guess he has a new hangout spot. That pseudo better not eat him, a diet of peppermint shrimp is an expensive diet :)

Here's a decent picture I got, he is in the rock so much it's tough to get a good picture

And here's the assesor this morning, much more active than yesterday.

Colin, The fish got over their shyness. The leather is looking better today in that picture than it did yesterday! That was a monster size leather for the price.

Let me know if you are going to get rid of the blastos.

Tom

Hey Tom,

If you want them they're yours. I like them but I want to get some Florida Rics instead.

LMK when you want them.
