Is it only open to BAR members? Will there be categories of frags (i.e. sofites, LPS, and SPS)? Will there be a rare group?

Have I now gotten on your nerves?

Its a totally open swap. I have to remember to post on the MARS forum.
No rare catagory, just one big group - plus donations from the store.

Side trades are fine though...purple monster anyone?

I think you are referring to the BAR frag swaps where you can pay $10 for admission if you don't have frags to swap. This is being held by a LFS not BAR so guidelines are posted above. There is no admission to enter the LFS obviously and you can purchase corals from the LFS

do we need to email steve like last time if we are coming or not so he can have a good idea of how many heads would show up?

I'm looking forward to this swap :)

Already trying to figure out what to bring....

So far, I'm thinking:

neon green birdsnest
Leng Sy cap
Idaho Grape
red mille

Don't know what else yet.

It's been a while since Steve and the crew put one of these on. I'm happy to see its back. So, i'll be there... and I guess this means I'll be busy with the scalpel tomorrow! ;)

-Charles

where can I get a good scalpel for cutting zoos? I should get some frags together too. I owe charles a few ;)

ah I'm sure I owe Norman a ton of frags too =) though I don't think I have a single coral you don't already have ;)

I use this for most zoas. Good for cutting into the LR.

This nail cutter is handy for SPS and chalice. Get it cheap at the drugstore and some pet supply places.

Hey Art, ready for your orange green digi yet? Or does it still need babysitting. It's all grown up now, hahaha.

Geeze Norman you always have to show off what stuff you're willing to give away ;)

Btw how Red is that Mille? I've seen some really cool looking ones lately.

If I go I'll probably bring some lords and wellsi to satisify the LPS crowd :)

Guess I"ll have to take some pics, Mike.

My tank is all grungy right now, and the mille is all the way in the back behind stuff. It looks like the one in the Reef Farmers pic of the LE Aquarium City Red Mille.

Don't know if it's the same one. But it was red with green highlighted edge. Same shade of red though, so good enough for me :)

I got it as a small frag from Piya when he broke down his tank last year. He got it at the June BAR swap. Lots of polyp extension and grows fast!

I dont think steve would have a problem with you buying 3 nice pieces of corals and then putting them in the swap pool...

So, you put three into the swap pool, and you only get 1 ticket? Do you absolutely go home with something, or is it a raffle where you can leave empty handed?

Also, is this any type of coral? I have gsp, red shrooms, diff zoos and ricordea, but no sps that can be fragged at the moment. Can these be put in or is it sps only?

BTW, Norman, will you babysit my orange digi when you give Art's back? I am not getting great growth with the little 70w halide on my 12g. So excited to upgrade, but i'm still buying plumbing stuff, etc.

:)
Angela

Well if you put three into the swap everyone will go home with atleast three corals. The raffle is a separate deal that you can win other prizes not frags that other's have put in.

I'll let Steve or someone else speak up on the types, although I don't see why those corals wouldn't be welcomed, just so long as everyone didn't bring those types :)

Any 3(or more) types of any coral should be fine.

Hopefully people will bring a good variety of stuff to make it fun. Pretty much if people are bringing in the kind of stuff that they'd like to be receiving, it works out nicely. It's not as fun if a lot of people bring stuff to get rid of because it's "junky" or dieing, or if people bringing in "micro frags" :)

Typically, all the corals get put out onto the tables, and people will take turns picking until they're all gone. In the previous swaps, Steve has put very nice corals from his own stock into the swap.

Angela, your digi should do ok with 70w. Is it near the top in a high flow location? The other thing would be to keep the alk and Ca levels up. Dose 2 part if you use Instant Ocean salt or NSW. Reef Crystals is good if you want to maintain levels with weekly water changes without doing all the other stuff. If you want me to grow it out some more for you, I could do that. Though it would be good to get your tank parameters set up for the digi to do well.
