New Alameda frag swap July 23, 2006

I think i'll pass on this swap. I don't want to disappoint anyone and since my tank is micro, my frags are not huge, either. No worries, i'll get in on the next one:)

Norman,
Well, the digi does alright, but I can't fit anything at the top since the RBTA has now taken over and is literally 8" diameter which pretty well encompasses the entire top portion of my tank. The digi has healed from where i've fragged it, but i've not noticed too much new growth. Definitely not the speed i'd like.

As far as setting the tank up properly, i'd probably need to ditch the RBTA or the SPS since both are in competition for the top of the tank. But, since the 36g should be up and running in a month or so, i'll probably not bother doing much to it, just sustain it until then. ALK/CA is doing fine. I use Reef Crystals and dose B-Ionic.

But, hey, if you get super growth and want to babysit, that'd be awesome. Maybe then i'd have something of decent size once the 36g is up and running, lol! ;)

Thanks,
Angela

The scalpel

The scalpel

The great thing about the scalpel is that the blade flexes, so it works well cutting the rock under zoos. ;)

I got this from a buddy who works in a lab.

As for the swap...

In an attempt to show off good frag pics before Mr. Ugly...

Here's a very unhappy Neon green nepthea, that lost a few arms (note: this is the real color under t5s!)

And for you SPS peoples. I chopped a piece of my monti equituberculata. It's a bit washed out and I'm having trouble getting a good pick. But I'm sure someone will like it! ;)

Ok since everyone is giving a sneak peak I'll do mine. I've decided rather than getting all crazy about which thing's to frag I let nature do it's course when I was re-arranging my tank and broke some stuff off and that's what's getting put into the frag swap from me :)

A type of montipora, that grows like a cap, but unsure if it is one.
It's brownish/purple with a nice purple rim as it grows, and deep purple polyps. (Frag pictured)

Montipora digitata, has an orangish/tan base with bright orange polyps. (pre-"fragged" piece pictured)

Acropora microphthalma, tan base, bright green tips. This and the digi are small so I'll probably toss both in as one frag. (pre-"fragged" piece pictured)

Pocillopora damicornis, "Mike's Survivor Coral", green fuzz with pink halo fuzz polyps.

Anybody else planning to attend on Sunday?

I'm bringing electric green birdsnest, elkhorn monti, orange nodosa, bright green digi, orange cap, green with purple edge cap, red mille, maybe some others.

Been too busy to take any pics for this one :(

I will be bringing Orange polyp green body digata, bright green cap, olive cap, montipora hirsuta, pavona, ora scripps acro and some other stuff.

I'll be there most probably, unsure what exactly I'm bringing don't think I'm bringing the LE California Grape Undata though ;), I have other locals requesting of that. I do have a nice bright orange digi that I can bring, survivor pocillipora, phoenix cap, I just picked up a sweet light blue millepora but I dont think I want to give that away to total strangers yet :D. Don't know about softy stuff though I haven't had time to chisel away any sort of mushrooms/rics so I'll leave those be for now.

I'll bring AEFW, if anyone wants any. I'm looking for red bugs, or monti nudis

I'll be there hopefully, but not in any trading capacity. I've self banned myself for at least two months.

Yah, that was a decent sized group. Nice seeing everybody :)

Hey Nicholas, I got 2 of the zoas you put into the swap. Thx!

thanks to steve and the NAA crew for putting it together and great seeing folks today.. thanks also norman for all the advice and ideas while we were waiting for the raffle..

finished dipping and acclimating my new additions.. things are finally starting to fill in and not look so bare in the tanks..

Yeah that was a good fix I needed since BAR is having their swap only once a year :) I think most everything I picked came from the two guys with the other store who brought stuff :) Nice purple Millepora, and bright green & yellow pocillipora.
