New Alpha 170 Surging

I just set the skimmer up. Its in 9.5 inches of water and its surging a lot. My pump has the screw in nozzle, I believe this is the adjustable one? Any suggestions on how to get it to quit surging?

Turn your nozzle all the way in to the right, closed position. Then back it out 2-3 full turns out to the left. After that just let it go, you should be fine after that. Give it a couple days to settle down and you will be good to go.

That did the trick. Is 9.5 inches to high of a water depth?

I have mine in 8" and its skimming retarded with 3 turns

Mine is in 9.5 inches of water with 2 turns on nozzle and i got almost an inch of dark nasty skimate in 8 hrs.
