While some morphs of the blue and greens similar to what you have pictured in #2 were sold as "deep waters", they are actually not from the same location/source. It was a good sales gimic for awhile.

Well I didn't buy them for what they're named, I like the colors. What are they then? My belief on all this name business is some ppl hate it, some ppl love it, or some ppl get really upset when u call something one name when they know it as something else. I call it as it's told to me, if it's not what it's called, my bad. I would also never pay a dookie load of money for a coral just because it's rare at that time. Maybe I'll buy an expensive kind of coral one day if it looks awesome and if I have hurndreds of dollars to blow, but I don't get much moneys so I doubt it. Not an attack on you by the way, I just felt like giving my 2 cents on the subject because of another piece I got that I called a red hot chili pepper in the sps section and some ppl didn't think it is. I'm not saying they're not right, I just don't care :) That being said I also don't mind putting a name on something if someone tells me what's correct because common names are a whole lot easier to spell and say than scientific names, but sometimes scientific names are better so ppl don't get confused. I'm just babbling now so I'll stop lol

No problem, wasn't trying to attack you either by the way, just relaying what I've learned from my own experience. I was told they are a zoanthids that actually been around for awhile, and doesn't have a name. Hence why some people and LFSs jumped on the name game when they saw a chance to get a better price out of them. Personally I think they are pretty cool, but they don't have the deep colors/contrast that mark the actual Deepwaters. Here's a macro of what I'm assuming are the same polyps or close to it;

Sorry its not real clear.
