New Anemone Tank

beautiful RBTA, love your clarki pair, we just lost ours to an electrocution when our heater busted in the sump. Our female would bite also.

Your tank is lovley. I especially love that green bta with the pink tips. I have also gone through the horrid task of removing a sand bed, too fine was blowing all over the place due to heavy flow. I replaced it with corser substrate. It is a nasty messy job but so worth it in the end.
Great job, looking forward to updates : )

Great tank! Just love your RBTA's! Is the GBTA w/Pink tips still in there? Didn't see it on any of the recent pics. Good luck in sand removal....

yeah, there are two and they are still in there. They just settled on the back of the tank so it is difficult to photograph. I will take some photos from the back tomorrow and post them.

Wow wow wow wow wow. I covet your rockscape. And your nems. And pretty much the whole setup. :D

I used to have a pair of those dark Clarkiis. Mine were CB (from Sustainable Aquatics), but I think the parents were originally from the Solomon Islands. Beautiful fish, lots of personality, and IMO very underrated. You can always get some of those long gloves they make for aquarists if your female gets too feisty. I used to use one with the maroon clown I had for a while.

FWIW, I like the look of a sand bed...maybe you can switch it out for a heavier, coarser substrate? Or maybe plant a nice mess of Halimeda that will root and volunteer all over the substrate and help keep it anchored (as well as providing some nice contrasting green color)? Halimeda likes flow; mine really took off after I put a couple of Vortech MP10s on my tank. But that's just me, I prefer the natural look of a sand bed over bare-bottomed tanks.

Thanks Velvet. I too, like the sand bottom. I might do this in two steps.

1. Take out the existing sandbed and evaluate for a few days.
2. If I don't love it, add heavier substrate.

I like the idea of the contrast Halimeda would add, and I'll keep that in mind. I do have to say that I love the look of my barebottom sps tank...and the easy maintenance.

Halimeda's great. It's frustrating at first and takes patience, because you bring this beautiful big clump of green macro home from the store, and next thing you know it turns white and drops its leaves and looks like it's dying. Then a month or so later, you see green poking back up, and before you know it you have Halimeda volunteering all over your sand bed and even attaching to the rockwork. It's especially pretty with "flowy" stuff like featherdusters and soft corals and anemones. :)

Whatever you decide to do, keep us updated! This display is making me reconsider the rockwork in my tank, especially since I'm going to get a cloned BTA for my clownfish pair (B&W ocellaris).
