New at this..40 gallon build

Or this filter with a small skimmerView attachment 230407 an the guy also recommend this salt called salinity so if anybody has heard of it an give me a lil more detail about it then that would be great cuz I couldn't find it anywhere else

salinity is the salt weight. Never heard of a brand of salt called that. I use instant ocean..i think i read you got some of that, but look into what salt has in it. you want it to be phosphate free. do a little bit more research before purchasing, you'll be happier in the long run.

Thanx but I went on an bought instant ocean as it is trusted among a majority of aquarists..tank is cycling an doing great..even have two three-stripped damsels to help the cycle process..ill be checkin my perms when I get off work

Well a little update..tank is doing pretty good except I have brown spots growin on my rocks an glass, which I have looked up on here an nobody seems to kno wat it is or how to get rid of it..hopefully it'll disappear eventually..but I do have two three-striped damsels an 5 blue legged hermits in there at the moment

Well the brown is most likely diatoms that are a part of maturation of a newer set up tank. All being well it will eventually go away but for me, I always helped it on by scraping/siphoning it whenever it appears.
I'm not a fan of having fish in a cycling tank as I feel there is no need to stress any fish going through the ammonia phase of a cycle, especially when sometimes it results in their death.
For a seahorse tank, it may also be adding pathogens to the tank that wouldn't be there without those fish having been added, and pathogen exposure that seahorses haven't been reared with often can lead to their demise.
IMO, damsels are the 'Tasmanian Devils" of the aquarium anyway.
What are you going to do with them when you want to put seahorses in the tank?

Ok that's what I was hoping it was. I did get my codiums in today..I have a friend who's willing to take them off my hands.. I'm also gonna make my own protein skimmer..have everything but the air pump which I would of had yesterday if they had of actually knocked on the door but they just left a note

Thought I'd share some pics of the codiums I received..think I might have to trim some down a bit an I still have more

Can the codiums be buried in the sand like that? I thought they'd rot if covered.

Any info I could find about keepin it said it would be ok to but it in the sand or u can anchor it to ur rocks..there's not much info about it..guess we'll find out

Here's a lil pic update..tank is doin great although I'm goin thru my diatom outbreak but that's normal ImageUploadedByTapatalk1370932250.719340.jpg

Hi Treyco,

Have been haveing a read about your tank, cant see if anyone has said, but you need to get your blue legs out of your tank.If you must have crabs have the red legs with yellow eyes.

Seachem makes it.
