New Banggai Pair not acting like it

I purchased a tank raised pair of Banggai's earlier this week from DD. I received them on Tuesday and yesterday I noticed the larger one chasing and nipping the smaller one. Today on lunch the smaller one is hiding under a pipe fitting in the QT and looks pretty beat up. What should I do? I have a nano cube that I can setup for the smaller one but I purchased these as a pair. Any chance they still might be a pair up?

I would separate them as soon as you can or you possibly end up with a dead fish.

How big are they? When DD sells the small banggais in "pairs", it's usually just two young banggais. The small ones aren't sexually mature yet so they may or may not actually be a pair. When DD says they are selling a mated pair of full grown banggais, I completely believe that DD will send you a true pair.

One is 1 3/4 inch and the other is 1 1/4. Crap....I misunderstood the pairs thing. I would have never spent $70 on a pair that I could not keep together. I sectioned off the QT and will set up another tank for the smaller one.

They might already be mature at that size. I would contact DD and see if they can tell you anything about the cardinals you got.

Sounds like they are not a pair, or atleast not on speaking terms lol. It took a lot of work for me to get a pair, but I would think DD would get you a pair if that's what they are listed as. Sounds like they are not though.
