Chris-

Other than a brief walkabout this morning when you called the 'lil monkey' has been hiding all day. I've got the tank temp down to a much more bimac friendly 72 degrees (still dropping a bit).

I may manually reduce the hermit population in there so that he'll come out and hunt more instead of snacking on Clibanarius candy :D

This is normal. Baby bimacs first instinct is self preservation. If the lighting gets reduced abit that might help too.I would try and place a few large turo snail shells in varius positions around the tank Sooner or later he will find one that he calls home. I like to tilt some of the shells on the side so its like a little cave with a roof over its head. When I had him at home he sat all day peeking out of a turbo snail shell and his brother does the same thing. When they see food though... the hunt begins. It usually takes 2-4 weeks for the babies to gain the confidence they need to be more active.

As a side note------

The baby bimac I have is using a pore in the live rock as it's den and uses a door to close it shut sometimes. The door is actually an Astraea's door from it's shell!
So I suppose the octopus is recycling!?

Hey now there's an idea....

I already sell prepackaged cleaned "Hermit Crab Condos" for customers who need new homes for the hermits in their reefs.

Maybe I should expand that to the equivalent of the Octo Home Depot :D
