New Birdsnest bleaching..

Hi friends, Have got a 25gal system with mainly lps and zoas and acro and a birdsnest.

The birdsnest is bought only for 2 weeks...

Its placed in the middle of my tank which is 12 inch in height..

Light is 2 x ATI Blue plus + 1 actinic + 1 osram 6500K all 24 W..

The birdsnest has been growing pale as day passes by where as my acropora formosa is still bright green with great polyp extension..

I am having high phosphates and running GFO..

But I have made the classic mistake of putting it high in the tank in high flow area on the first day..

Now I have removed it to the bottom to low flow area.. Also have raised my lights by 1 inch..

Anything else I could do to stop it from bleaching.. Also theer's hardly any PE on it now..

Just now measured alk with salifert- 8.3-8.6..

Also my photo period is 12 hours..

Any help will be great.. do I need to feed my corals as there's a high PO4 i have shifted all my fishes except for 2 and not feeding them for 1 week..

I dont think you need to feed your corals especially with high phosphates. That may be the culprit. What do you mean by shifting the fish?

It's definitely the PO4 IMO. BNs are very sensitive to NO3 and PO4 IMO (again), but you may have also shocked it in the introduction with the placement.

If it were me, I would consider fragging the piece if it is getting bad.

What kind of skimmer do you have?

Well, my PO4 is much better now..

Moreover my acropora formosa is showing greater polyp extension with deep green colour.. I was doubting he PO4 which is now at aroung 0.08.

The skimmer i am using is Reef Octopus NW-110
