New Blue Haddoni

Here's a couple pics of my 6" blue carpet I just got last week. I think he's pretty nice. He's doing well / not roaming around. I just dug a spot for him in the sand and he stayed there. He's eating like a champ. I've been feeding him 1" krill and he eats them like crazy. My clowns aren't hosting him yet but hopefully they will. I know the Haddoni isn't the ideal host for a perc.

My Ocellaris would host my LTA, Hairy Green Mushrooms, Gonioporia... it took about 4 months after adding my Green Carpet befor the would host that as well. The downfall to the Haddoni is he has made a meal of 2 Chromis and 1 Yellow Watchman Goby so far.

Good luck!

that is a nice looking carpet give your clowns time and they should accept it

Not necissarily. Many percs or Ocellaris don't host Haddonis. The problem is not always if the clownfish will host the haddoni but if the haddoni will accept the clownfish. I have heard many times a clownfish hosting in a Haddoni and shortly after it is consumed by the carpet.

Nice bluecarpet by the way. I have one myself thats a little bit bigger. Here's mine:

S. haddoni are fish eatter and will eat a few of your fish including clowns that are not natually live in this carpet.

Nice carpet 55semireef. I know they eat fish that's part of the attraction I guess. I'm not too worried about it. My coral beauty comes dangerously close sometimes but the others seem to give it a wide bearth. Hopefully the clowns host it but if they don't they don't. No prob. I'll just feed them to it and try another pair lol <jk>

Thanks for the compliment. Unfortunately, my carpet got my Yellow Watchmen Goby a day or two ago. He/she has been missing and I have looked around but found nothing. I am about 99.9% sure the carpet has something to do with this case. It looks guilty.

"It looks guilty" lol. My coral beauty isn't long for this world I think. He keeps swimming through the anenome when the anenome is folded up partially. (the typical haddoni saddle looking position) Yesterday he picked up a piece of food that landed on him. I told my wife to start deciding what she wants to replace the Angel with :) Yesterday the anenome gave me quite a scare. It was fine first thing in the morning but deflated and stayed that way looking like it was dying all day. It recovered last night and is fine now. I was cleaning the tank maybe I just stressed him. I was using the magnet algae cleaner near him and it kind of skips along the glass and causes vibrations or mini waves to all that are near.

Yeah, my carpet deflates a little bit too when I am doing a water change or cleaning the glass with a mag. So anything new with your Perc? It may take a while. I know my clarkiis instantly loved my Haddoni. BTW, good luck with your Coral Beauty...they just don't know the conseqences. I think my purple tang got a scare when his fin got stuck in the carpet but luckily enough he's a strong swimmer and got out. Now my purple avoids the bluecarpet at all costs even though my female Clakii "encourages" the purple tang to come near. :)

My clowns are pretty much ignoring it.. They look at it once in a while but that's it.. The coral beauty is flirting with death still. His days are numbered. The anenome seems to be deflating some during the day. Not so much today as yesterday. He ate a couple krill no problem today so I guess that's a good sign... Have a look let me know what you think.

Thanks. I like him :) He's been deflating alot the past few days. I just did a water topoff and discovered my salinity was .030! I added a bucket of fresh water and it dropped to .029. I'll do another tomorrow. Hopefully all will be ok. I guess I need to stay more on top of it when its hot.
