New BTA , C.b. Clownfish and silly idea experiment.

So a year and a half ago , someone who was dismantling a tank gave me a " bonded pair" of black snowflake ocellaris c.b. I think because he wanted them spawning and it didn't happen got annoyed and decided to get other ones. Since I had gold band maroons and melanopus spawning before he figured I might have either enough patience or a trick to get them to start spawning...

A couple of times they looked like they were going to but didn't because of a water change or a clay pot that slightly changed position , or fell or whatever.
Recently I got a BTA just to see if they would take to it...
Like many others here , after a few days they've totally ignored it , since they probably have never seen one before!

I don't personally like the idea of coercing clownfish in anemones... So before I start looking for the appropriate anemone I will try something silly that I've read on a forum: to this question someone answered "Xerox a picture of clownfish in anemone and stick it to the side of the aquarium. They may start imitating the behavior."

So today I start showing them YouTube videos of clownfish and anemones....

After 3 videos ....so far the female has almost " jealously " pushed the male away from the iPad screen so I know they see it!

I've had success breeding frogs by recording mating calls and playing it back to them...

Maybe this'll work also.

Will give updates if there are any!

You never know the different things people try that actually work. You might try putting them and the anemone into a floating plastic colander in the tank and see if they will go to the anemone.

Lol! I had to look up the definition for colander ... English isn't my mother tongue. I find that method too pushy for my liking at least at this time.

Updates : clownfish NOT in anemone , bicolor blennies love to watch YouTube [emoji12]

Lol! Fish porn That's funny... Though in my experience once someone starts spawning in the tank it does encourage other pairs to follow.

I'll keep that suggestion in mind if ever this experiment works.

New BTA , C.b. Clownfish and silly idea experiment.

So I gave up on YouTube videos mid-January ... The clownfish were not interested in the bta at all.

The anemone was up in the tank under maybe 5-6 inches from the top...
And today when I plugged in my second power head oxygen boost she decided she was done with this position and went to hide in darkness in a black pvc pipe where there is very little flow....

I thought that was really weird, right?!

Well that pic pipe is where the big female clownfish sleeps , so this evening they met ...awkwardly but they finally met!
