Hiya, could anyone tell me if this new BTA we brought yesterday looks healthy?

I know they take a while to get used to the tank when brought.

It has moved accross the tank and not sure if it's going to decide to stay put now.

Thanks for any info on our new addition!

He looks fine, adjusting to your tank, try feeding him to help him along tho. Please take a picture of his mouth for us.
It looks ok but not quite sure with the pictures you have posted.

His mouth was very open a few hours ago... it has closed up alot since then but not tight shut... we're going to see if he was some food later on. I'll post a pic of how he looks right now.

Thanks.

The first couple of pics of the mouth didn't look too hot. It looked like it was open and it's insides were coming out a little. That is not good. The second set of pics it looks alot better. Hopefully it was just acclimating itself to your tank. It looks like it's near the sandbed, what kind of lighting to you have?

We have 4 T-5's..... to tech for me.....other half's job lol.

Think there is 36watt +24watt Daylight Blue
and 36watt + 24 Watt Daylight

If he needs more light, he'll work his way up won't he ? It's a 200 Litre Tank.

Do you think he'll do that again with his mouth? Or can u never tell!

Thankyou

How many gallons is 200 litres? I think it's like 60 or something?

Those lights should be good enough for that tank. Especially since BTA is not very demanding on light. Just leave it be. It looks like it's getting better as the pictures progress.

Why do you not have to feed your anemone when a clown is hosting in it?

seller said he didn't, and the clown actually brought the needed food to the BTA. i've fed other anenomes in the past, they had no clown, and much less light.

i gather you'd advise, feeding. is so what and how often? i used to feed store bought fresh scallop meat.

He looks much better, I see no problem with him at all.
As for food, the clowns does NOT take food to feed the anemone, it takes it there to store it for later. If you only feed a little to your clowns there is not enough to feed the anemone.
There are many people that say they dont feed there anemones, I doubt that very much. In the wild they catch fish and other animals that come by to survive, they do not live as does anything without food.
Light is good but wont keep an animal alive for very long.
Feed it silversides or raw shrimp several times a week to keep it alive healthy and growing/flourishing.
Feed it nothing and it will or may survive but will be week and unhappy.

sounds like a better plan, just checked out the posted pdf. on anenomes...

shell the shrimp? or shell on? raw fresh scallops? i have no source of silversides..

You can get raw uncooked shrimp at most supermarkets.
It will do in a pinch, mine wont eat it but I have seen many that will.

i tried a thawed formula one cube tonite....it 's what was available at home. the largest took it immediately and downed it. must have been hungry. one of the others was less interested it seemed.

will start shopping for other suggested items....

just took some picts. tonite. got to figure out how to post or attach them.

thank you Finding Nemo for that statement! I would have thought by now that this myth would of been done away with. Do you bring food home to feed your condo or to store it for later for yourself, kinda makes sense doesn't it.
