New BTA Hiding?

I picked up my first Anemone today. It is a white tip bubble anemone. After acclimating I turned off all my pumps and placed him in the area I wanted him next to a crack between rocks because I heard they like having their foot out of the light. After giving him about 30 minutes to get his "footing" I turned back on my pumps. Over the past two hours he has wiggled his way down into the crack. Is this pretty normal? Should he come back out? Any idea how long it should take?

yes, its very normal, and bta will rarely stay where you put them,
they will wander the tank until they find a spot they like,
make sure your levels are ok and just give it some time.

+1...This is absolutely typical, you buy a nice new piece for your tank and it hides. Happens to me every time.

Nice looking BTA. I had one in my tank in Texas and it stayed exactly where I put it, but I found out that was rare. Every one I have gotten since has moved all over the tank. It just takes time for them to find the perfect spot and set up home.

I just watched him close up in the last hour. My lights don't come on for another 2 hours so it is still night time in the tank. I am hoping he is on the move. Do they normally close up to protect themselves when they are moving?

Well, he did not move, but he did open back up when the lights came on. I just fed him for the first time. He took half a large krill. My god, my cleaner shrimp were relentlessly trying to steal it from him.

He has moved out a little and is now on the side of the rock. The parts of him that are in the light are blown up pretty nicely. The parts of him in the shade, not so much. How does he look?

He looks good, he'll settle in eventually.
