New BTA

I just purchased my first BTA. It was just introduced into the tank yesterday. It has found a nice place under a piece of live rock. He is coming out and looks good. The tank is 1.5 years old and the water parameters are great. I have T-5's for lighting. Should I start trying to feed him now, or should I give it a day or two until he settles in. I plan on feeding it silversides, but should is there a different food I should start off with?

I would give it a few days, just give it time to settle in. No need to add to its stress right now. Back when I had BTAs (( still have Haddoni carpets and LTAs )) I switched off b/t sliversides and krill -- whatever my LFS had in stock at the time I was there.

Thanks Todd! I just want to make sure I am doing everything correctly. I have researched the BTA before placing it in, but a little reassurance from the forum helps!

Glad I could help. And you will find that BTAs don't need to be fed all that often. When I had mine it was over 12" across and I think I fed it twice a mouth.

Here is a picture of mine right before I sold it -- it is on the right hand side -- the tank is a 75, so gives an idea of it size.
