New build....

Thanks Roger! I have a small concern about the rock layout but I can't see it from the front until we open the display. And, we won't be opening the display for months because we want some frags to grow in before it's visible to guests. :(

Hopefully it looks okay from the front.

What's the concern?

What did you use to shore up the rocks?

Sorry, not positive on what you mean by shoring them up.... All the base rock was purchased through Marco Rocks, I requested a number of slices so we would have good spots for planting frags. The rocks are just sitting on top of the starboard bottom, stacked with no glue/pipe/etc. I took a few hours testing these shapes and so far they appear to be solid, even with an MP60 blowing full force on them. :)

Finished filling. Everything is plumbed and running smoothly except our coral growout tank (waiting for a stand to be built). Added a few black mollies to start cycling....

Mollies are brackish fish, Tank is running freshwater at the moment but we will gradually be increasing the salinity which the mollies should tolerate. Plus, mollies aren't a**holes if they survive, like damsels.

Final major plumbing hurdle is out of the way.... Our frag tank is online now as well! :)

Tank is starting to get a diatom bloom as well as some hair algae.....

Finally making a little more progress with this aquarium....

Some fish have been added:

1.1 Ocellaris Clowns (DaVinci Morph)
1.1 Bangaii Cardinal
0.0.3 Neon Gobies
1.1 Canary Blennies
0.0.12 Blue Streak Cardinals

Also introducing some SPS slowly:

M Digitata
M Capricornis
S Hysterix

And, a big Ca Reactor!!!!

Time to revive this thread and send out an invitation....

This project is now officially open to the public and we will have a grand opening with Q&A this Saturday, July 30th. This is the Rising Tide Reef Aquarium at Busch Gardens. This has been a long time in the making as we began building and planning this tank over 2 years ago. Would love to meet and talk with anyone from the club who has the opportunity to come out to Busch Gardens on Saturday and see it. We'll be answering questions from about 10am-2pm. Come out and say hello!!!

A quick overview of system:
-200+ gallon display w/ external overflow and beananimal siphon system;
-Flow provided by ReeFlo Hammerhead and 2 Ecotech MP60s.
-200# base rock with 50# live rock; all fish and invertebrates were captively sourced.
-70 gallon sump with ReefOcto Skimmer, live rock, and filter socks.
-20 gallon frag/growout tank. Tunze powerhead providing additional flow
-1/2hp chiller.
-Hybrid T5/LED lighting with 4 T5s and two AI Hydras.
-UV sterilizer inline but only run as needed.

Cool i will check it out. I saw some filter socks hanging out to dry the other day and wondered if there was a tank nearby lol.

Got tied up on Saturday but had a chance to check out the tank Friday Morning. I liked it a lot, the Clowns in there are extremely nice. I was with a co-worker at the time and had to tell him like 3 times that the corals were indeed real. Will definitely be stopping by to keep tabs on the progress.

Thanks for checking it out!!! Hopefully, in a few months we'll have a captive Blue Tang in there. :)
