I am going to setup a Geo 618 for my 120 gal SPS tank. I was looking at the Deluxe package that includes the ReefFanatic regulator and digital controller.
By going with the package, I am getting the digital controller and pH probe for basically no more money than buying all the parts individulally without the controller. If I order the parts individually and use the Apex for control, I still have to buy a second pH probe for the Apex whereas the package includes one with the ReefFanatic controller.
I have the Apex to control the regulator, but just wondering if using the stand alone pH monitor to control the regulator has any advantages? Anyone use a redundency measure where you hook the standalone controller power supply to the Apex to shutdown everything if the tank pH is out of range? I have also had a few Apex glitches in the past with firmware updates and I would not want that to create an issue with the reactor.
One more question. It comes with a MJ1200 for the feed. Seems like that is too much flow for what you ultimately want for effluent to the sump? Seems like a MJ900 might be more suitable?
