I posted on here about 2 months ago and haven't had time to play with the new camera till now. The advice some of you gave me I'm hoping you will give again. I have a canon digital rebel with the 100 mm macro lens and my pictures look no better than my kodak easy share. I have the camera set to TV, manual focus, and some other thing on the lens to 0.48m. To be honest I have no idea what these settings mean but I seen other peoples pictures that had used these settings so I tried it. Here's some pics. The first pic is with my Kodak the others the canon.

I'm in no way shape or form a photographer but I'll lend my two cents. Why the manual focus? Let the camera focus. Especially for a newbie (I'm one too). It's very very difficult for the untrained eye to determine if a shot is properly focused through the view finder. Aperature priority mode, Tv? on the Canon it may be. My Nikon its Av. Aperature priority is what you want, adjust it using the finger wheel to somewhere between 8-11. It can only be adjusted only after pushing the shutter release 1/2 way to focus/set-up the shot. Use a tri-pod. My suggestion, use macro-mode (little flower on the dial) and take lots of pics. Keep reading about aperature, shutter speed and whatever else you can find. There are several sites with links in this forum, I'd post the links but don't have the time right now. Do a search for "ximina" or something like that.

HTH at least a little.
