New canister filter

I used both a dual biowheel HOB and a Eheim canister on my 60g cube for years. (22+) IMHO, the canister is a royal pia, and is really only useful as a place to put carbon and maybe a little LR rubble. It will need to be cleaned way more often that you will want to do it, at least every couple weeks (or more)

Make sure the canister is easy to get to. If not you will slowly start putting off changing the media in it and it doesn't take long for the media to get full and do more harm than good

Using both will give you someplace for carbon and perhaps a bit more area for biological filtration but, like mentioned above, it will quickly become a chore to clean, and we all put off chores as long as we can. I would consider TLF 150's as HOB reactors if you need carbon or GFO - they take up very little space and work very well. So yes, I would probably skip the canister. Not that it won't work - mine did for a very long time, it's just that there are better ways to accomplish the same thing.
