New clam tank. Any suggestions.

Well I just got a new tank and it is going to be for my clams.

It is 48 x 24 x 12

I am going to make the stand so it will be at waist height so it can be viewed from the top.

Lighting will be 2 x 175 watt ushio 10k

I am thinking of making a surge device for it as well. I will also be keeping some corals in the tank.

sand bottom with only a few pieces if rock in the center and flat stone to place the clams on.

and a 15 gallon sump with a home made skimmer.

Any suggestions

I am getting this tank because I have 8 clams in my 32 cube and it is a little cramped for space. They are all in the from 12 inches of the tank. 4 croceas 2 maximas 1 dereasa 1 squamosa

I think its time for a bigger tank.

water flow is wat I am really interested in. What kind of flow ca I have in this tank without disturbing the clams?

Alex,
I'd scrap the surge idea if the tank is mainly for clams. 12" doesn't leave a lot of low flow space at the bottom of the tank. I would be just going for a couple of powerheads around the outside of the tank which should make enough movement for the corals but not too much for the clams.
