New Clams

Krazy

In Memoriam
Well I've always had my two crocea clams, then I had bought a tear-drop maxima, a nice clam, But it just never "did-it" for me...

Well I brought the maxima back for some credit...

I came home with two more clams though instead of one...

I got a very nice sized squamosa and a small deresa clam :D

I'm very happy I finally got a squamosa :D  :D

Any advice for good health on the small deresa ??

I noticed you have three diffrent species of clams together there. They all come from different zones of the reef, and have different histories and requirements (to a certain degree).
The croceas are the most light loving, so you might want to move them up for brighter light, while the squammie and derasa can tolerate the lower light at the bottom of the tank.

Dont get me wrong, they could all do just fine there, but you cant provide too much light for a crocea really.

I've got 250 watt halides, the crocea's have been in that spot since Janurary... They seem to like it there :)

I like the "family" look of them all together, if the clams show signs of needing more light, They will most defiently get moved up

derasas are very tolerant...they like the sandy bottoms where you have it...and that new nice clam book says they get most of their requirements from light and dont usually require much else..
