New clownfish/anemone tank setup. Suggestions please

No plans...I just looked at the ER and Deltecs online and copied them pretty much...with a few modifications.

That is really neat wave patterning on the surface, for having no outlet near the surface.

It's a very cool idea. I've often wondered about flow outlets like that for an anemone setup, I think it makes sense. I would think it could also work in a closed-loop situation as well as a sump return. The only thing about check valves is that eventually enough slime buildup on the inside of the pipes can cause a seal to fail, so you need to keep them clean, a closed loop wouldn't need that check valve. But it's all good as long as you're on top of the maintenance.

Actually there is one outlet that comes over the overflow box.
I agree...the check valve I use is completely removable for cleaning. I put a ball valve in line with it so I could cut off the water from the tank while I remove the check valve for maintenance.

Doh, I forgot about that outlet. Whoops.

It's still a neat pattern though, it looks almost like a standing wave pattern. Are you able to take something like a 30second MPEG of the tank?

Green carpet added.

Green carpet added.

I got this green carpet a couple of days ago. I am still waiting for my Onyx Percs. He seems pretty happy so far.

I haven't had much luck getting percs to accept haddoni carpets. I hope you have better luck.

Well, I got my Percs from PhishyBusiness.com today. They are small, but arrived in excellent shape. I also received a Green Carpet from them. I guess I forgot to cancel the order for it after I got my other Green Carpet...so now I have 2. They took to both of them almost immediately. I guess I will keep both anemones for a while until they get a little bigger...then I can sell one of them. The carpet is not purple at the base...I guess that comes from the 20K bulb I am running. Anyway...here are the new arrivals.
This is them in the original carpet.

I don't think they will sting each other since they are the same species. I have seen carpets in other peoples' tanks that are touching without issue.

Yes, but they are only about 1.25" long. I think they have a good amount of black in them considering their size. I guess time will tell.

Congrats on getting your percs to host your carpets so quickly.

That white poop coming out of the smaller perc is not a good sign. You should at least give them a Fresh water and a Formalin dip or you could very well lose him. A quarantine tank would be even better.

z_rivers...Full tank shot - sure.

phender - I didn't like the white poop either, but I have found (especially with small fish) that they are sometimes worse off being dipped and treated with medicine than just providing good water quality and a proper diet. He is active and eating well so I think I will just let him be. I find that too many hobbyists rush into treating their fish unnecessarily.

clown fanatic - Thanks!

Just felt like I had to share these pics. These two are just completely enamored with their anemones. They hardly leave them.

Here are a couple of pictures of my clownfish. One has recently decided that his favorite spot is in the mouth of the carpet anemone. He spends lots of time diving into it head first.

They have also started feeding the anemone. I put shrimp in the tank with my fingers...the same clown that dives in, comes and takes the shrimp out of my fingers and charges fast into the anemone. He rubs it into the carpets tentacles and then gets food for himself. I am really enjoying these guys. So much personality in such a small package.
