new colors?

A friend of mine and I were discussing the ability to create new color morphs's in zoo's.
Can new colors be created or "encouraged" in anyway?
My thought was that combining colonies of different colors one might be able to...........??????

i have no idea about hybrids but these two articles discuss how lighting can encourage more intense colors in zoanthids

The two will not mix. One will overtake the other colony and smother it out. Changing a color is very easy either have high or low nutrient levels and or have high intense or low light or any mix of the the two/four. Either way will get them to change color, which is for the best depends on the polyp and preference. Very interesting......
So i imaging one would need to set up a tank to specifically dedicate to this. How dramatic are the color changes we can achieve? I am really interested in giving this a try.
