I almost threw up when I opened my bill for June as their new rates went into effect June 1.

Mine went up 38% and is now a whopping $169 a month! Anyone else seeing this?

No, we just got our bill on 6/23 and it didn't move, but that's not to say next months won't go up. This was announced some time ago so it was worth preparing for.. I found out through a local reefer as I had no clue.

We would kill for $169... ours was $255. Luckily I changed from 3x250w halides to three Reefbreeder Value LEDs (use 100w per unit). Hopefully that will help keep the heat down and minimize electricity usage for the tank.

to make anyone else feel better about their bill. Mine was $460... but I am in NYC so its not really a good comparison.

Misery loves company. During the summer months with A/C, pool filter and my tank going, I come close to cracking the $500 mark. During the winter, my bills drop to about $300-$350.

Damn guess I should move South. What a freaking monopoly. I guess they are trying to revive the bankrupt solar energy companies.

$275 last month with a/c set to 75. And it wasn't even hot yet. Now the cfo wants to keep the house at 77. Monopoly here too.

Comcast comed and nicor need some heavy competition. Even though we have an abundance of natural gas in our country the energy prices are sky high. With the income and employment so low hard to imagine how the future generation will afford all these things.

I'm around 11.5 cents per kilowatt hour in Lake County. I have been looking to replace my halides with some Lumia 5.2's to reduce consumption. What really added into my electrical bill more than the halides was my bitcoin miner operation.

Tom Algonquin has its own grid subbed out. Your rates didn't change.

Mine went up $35

That's what you said, but the original poster is also in algonquin but his rates went up?

BTW, a lot of this has to do with the fleecing of coal generation facilities.

Actually I'm in Bloomingdale, I just haven't updated my location yet. Oops
