New Condy

I just got my first purple condy nem "in the mail" from blue zoo aquatics. Its a great size about 5" so it fits into my 55 gallon as the centerpice, just as it should. Unfortunately the "centerpiece" has decided it needs to hide for a while in between my rock structure and the wall. :rolleye1: Have any of you heard of any clowns hosting with a condy? I have only heard scattered reports of A. clarkii hosting. Any suggestions?

I dont want to sound rude but why did you buy a condy?I have one and am happy with it but eats every thing(fish wise)in my tank!I have heard of the anemones hosting the clowns but the chances are VERY slim!I had a pair of tomatos hosting in one till I got rid of it and moved it to another tank!
 
I have had a fire clown host in them, but they tend to wander a lot. dont expect it to stay where you put it. this means its going to sting the hell out of a lot of your other corals.I would keep one in a FOWLR as they dont require the lighting that say a BTA or LTA would, but in the reef they tend to be a nuisance.
 
you can place several small rocks around the base of the nem.. when it moves it will move onto movable rocks, this way you can control where it goes till till you find it a place it is happy
 
Clowns 101, I got the condy for a few reasons. (That is a good question by the way). First of all because this is my first anemone, i decided to go with the most resiliant species i could find. This brought is down to the bubble and condy obviously. After looking at the size most people say thier bubble nem obtains, i went with the smaller condy. However I later found out that the size is determined by the amount of food given. This was obviously a mistake.
 
There has beem a recent change (as of a few hours) in my condy. Its tenctacles have become much shorter and it seems to have shrunk a little in size. I havent fed it anything, and it hasnt eaten any fish so im not sure whats going on....
 
Prob still aclimateing..justr see what happens!Anemones are 95 persecnt water theres room for the size to change!
 
i myself just bought one as well and it did the same thing, it was on top of a rock towards the front and has moved towards the back of the rock and is wedged between 2 of them but is kinda hidden, i wish it could come to the front... sorry to hijack your thread but i would like to know how i can and if i can move him where i would like him?
 
Xtreme, what i have heard is that in order to move an anemone you must gently massage its foot for over an hour/until it releases from the rock. If you pull the anemone off of the rock you will cause a possibly fatal amount of damage to the foot of the nem. As things are i am going to let things run their course.
 
yeah thats most likely what im gonna do, i hope my clowns move into it.. but from what ive ready its highly unlikely :/ oh well..

Why not? They're cheap, hardy, and a beginner's anemone. Beautiful too!

Of course, that was when mine was bleached. Got it to a nice and healthy brown, then traded it to my LFS for an RBTA (plus $80).

Heard rumors that they occasionally eat clowns. :eek:

I think they are awesome looking, if they didnt wander I would have one, but I just got done with a full tank cleansing from a Koralia3 vs LTA and I dont want to go through that again.

+1 on the "great first nem" comment from spartan.
 
They do look good!But I got some expinsive clowns and dont want to lose them to the anemones!I have one in an eight gallon bio-cube and am happy with it but can only keep a tomato clown in the tank as when I had a clown goby the goby was eaten within 48 hours!Just to throw in the anemones hasnt moved in months(knock on wood)!
