New Coral... did I just get had?

Seems okay to me. It may be a wild colony frag so watch for color shifts but it might just be a good deal.

it says it will be in shipping for 2-3 days.. i dont think it would fair well with that type of shipping.. unless there is a way to change the shipping, thats the only option they gave me..

Not sure if you're in the "opposed to red bugs" club like me but if so you may want to QT as I can see some on one of their other acro pics. Not wanting to scare you, just trying to prevent any potential issue w/ that.

Don't think we're supposed to link to Ebay to show the one I saw the bugs on... it's the one they have labeled Blue-Tip. Look in the yellow/orange tinged area of the coral (in the nooks & crannies) and you should be able to spot the same red heads I did.

oh no... you serious about the bugs? Didnt see any, dang! As far as shipping, I read his feedback and all the feedback said he was a pretty good shipper, I know 2-3 days is bad for shipping corals, but for 40 bucks I thought Id try.

i looked and saw no redbugs.....and it also says ships overnight
with either fedex or usps

but that doesnt mean there not there......just look closely once you receive the coral ......

i wouldnt buy coral off of ebay with your money......just my 2 cents and ebay wont even get that....dry goods only from them and from vendors only...

It's blue has been seriously boosted in post-production.

There is flaring, most notibly inside of corralites and it even shows up in the background and in noise layers.

Even then, its prolly modestly blue; just not nearly as blue as they want you to believe.

Also, the tank they're keeping it in seems to be having a green film algae problem :P

Many frag tanks I've seen aren't completely clean so i wouldn't worry about that. I've sold some frags on ebay and I've had to adjust colors to accuratley represent the frag. However, when they get it and see it is exactly the same color, then there is no issues. There are some people on there you have to watch. A good idea is to ask other people who won older auctions by sending them questions.

In a couple of them, there looks to be bleaching...look really close...it looks to white to be growth. Without a good online rep, like reefermadness or dr. mac...I would not buy online otherwise. There is something to be said for being able to see livestock before you buy it.

I dunno about that un-altered bit either, 14k bulbs with 196watts of actinics and the sand looks that white with no flash? Eitherway it the individual color levels look a tad too jagged in photoshop, but its possible to see that in seriously oversaturated pics, but this one aint.

That piece either is a bad picture of modified somewhat but it doesn't mean it won't be nice or as blue. You will have to wait and see. I very rarely even buy corals from tanks with 20K. Since I have a 10K tank, the colors very rarely look the same. 14K is a hit and miss depending on the bulb. I wish people would use 10K because if you see the true color plus if you have a 20k tank, you will know that it will be more of a bluer/green hue.

Post the result pics on here when you get it.

Will do, I have 14K over my tank with antinic suplement so I thought it would look about the same under my lights. As for the color, I agree with you Jay, but we will see.

Well, this acro arrived today... and it is a kind of light blue purple color. Ill give the vendor the benefit of the doubt and hope it colors up. I dipped it before it went into the tank and there was a hairy bastard crab in it, which looks like it had been going to town on the acro. Im glad he decided to die and fall off before going into the tank. Not a healthy piece but hopefully itll recover, I think it has potential to be a really nice color. Im kind of disappointed but did not have very high expectations after this post originally started. Thanks for all your input originally Ill keep you all up to date.

Oh and it looks like those little barnicles have taken over half of the colony, Ive never seen so many, can they be parasitic?
