new corals at scotts

So I was told scott is now getting more into corals. Since I happen to be a few blocks away I stopped in. I was amazed at what I saw in one of the main coral tanks.

They have a large glass tank with slanted front for down viewing much like a clam tank. (The tank itself is very cool) They have all the coral fragments and small colonies on black eggcrate in the tank. Well take a quick look at that black eggcrate. It is 100% filled with tens of thousands of flatworms crawling around. They look like regular old red flat worms. Still with them that obvious and easy to treat with FWE why would they leave a display like this? The black egg crate makes them easier to notice than normal. My jaw dropped. I wanted one of the coral frags but was way to scared to buy any coral there.

The new sps tank, not the angle view doesnt have flat worms. Yes the angle view does. Been trying to combat them for awhile now. I recommend customers to dip new corals before introducing them to their own tank to eliminate the flat worms.

I see dipping for what I can't see but why would I buy something out of a tank that already has visible problems? Can't you add fish in there that eat FW?

Langchin,

You could have total success by removing all the rock from the tank and keeping it in a tub in the back and performing multiple treatments with FW exit. The ones left in the tank would be easily siphoned out.

I tend to like Scott's but unfortunately would NEVER buy anything out of a tank loaded with FWs. I wouldn't take the chance in my tank.

Why not just break the whole tank down (for the safety of your customers tanks) and rebuild the tank from scratch. Updating the tank might generate some interest from some online would be customers. Selling healthy livestock goes hand in hand with acceptable customer service.
