New Crocea gaping

Just got a new crocea clam 3 days ago that is about 5". Was in care of the lfs for 3months and not gaping at store. I dripped acclimated for an hour and put in my tank. When just my VHOs on(220w) it does not gape but when MH on (2- 250w) it will gape until they go off again. The clam is on the sandbed maybe 26" from light.

Will the clam be OK or should I use screen over the clam and slowly adjust it to the light? It was under an old 400w MH at the lfs

TIA

im not exactly sure what you are talking about, a pic would help very much. then we might be able to tell whats going on with him.

In a nutshell the clam "gapes" when the MH light are on. Will it adjust on its own or should I shield clam from MH and slowly expose to them?

Here is a pic of it "gaping" with MH lights on

Crocea's have a natural gaping look.. It may or may not be gaping... Sometimes my crocea has it's intake larger than usual, sometimes not...

Give it some time to acclimate. It looks fine to me however.. IT's fully open, it looks great to me.

That looks like my Crocea and from day one it really has not changed that much. I would not worry about it. I think it is fine.

Nice find by the way. It looks awesome.
