New Crocea (pics to follow tonight)

So I just bought my first clam. I have done research, so don't think this was an impulse buy completely. I went to a new LFS about 1 hr away and they actually had some Croceas in stock. I didn't intendon buying it now, but it is the first time I have seen one locally so I took the dive.

Basic Tank Set-up
29G, 50#LR, 250W MH 20k lighting. Tank 6 months old.

Questions:
1. Right now he is on the sand bed, I guess I should place a rock under him to attach?
2. I have DT's to feed him. Can I just put it in the water colume? What is a "feeding bell" that I have read about?
3. How can you tell if it is feeding / siphoning? What are the physical traits when a clam is actually feeding?
4. He is at the bottom of my tank, 15" water depth, 250W MH 20k lighting 6" above the water. Is that enough light or should I move him up?

depending on the size of the clam over 3 inches people will say you dont have to feed them. i say feed it . feeding bell is a 2 liter cut in half placed on the clam then phyto is squirted into the container and the clam is left for about 30 min to feed. If the clam eats the water will turn from light green form the phyto to clear or clearer.

I often wonder if there is a "correct" depth for my crocea (distance away from Light bulb). I believe the best setting is- whatever the clam likes best!
